R&D Section Head

Department: Research and Development
Classification: Managerial

GENERAL SUMMARY

RS/he will have high level scientific qualification (Bachelor degree in Pharmacy or Science according to the relevant departmental section/ post-graduate qualification is an asset). S/he will have leadership capabilities and a strong experience record in all relevant disciplines concerned with the section functional performances.

Supervises under the direction of R&D manager plan for creation/presentation of all research and development projects performed by members of all divisions affiliated to the section, participates in generating key issues/ objectives and strategies, recommends projects and technologies for investigation, communicates plan key elements and initiatives to team members, manages tactical brainstorming, tracks industry trends and the relevant legislative/ regulatory requirements, evaluates new technologies and wherever possible, proceeds to actual implementation, demonstrates an ability to analyze high level requirements and produce solutions and proposals, possesses a proven track in ability of coaching and active training and helping other team members to achieve peak performance, keeps R&D manager briefed on all relevant details of project(s).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

* Supervise the development of designated experimental trials with an ability to design an effective series of experiments and validation of method development while being intimately in contact with R&D Manager for discussion.
* Provide supportive measures that indicate the success and performance of the developed formulation, process or procedure.
* Review, results from large quantities of experimental trials and give opinion for further proceeding
* Team leader for transfer of scale-up technology to pilot plant manufacturing site and quality control/ quality assurance department.
* Responsible for reporting to R&D Manager progress of work in the relevant field of different sections
* Supervising the ongoing investigations concerning uprising problems or re-development of a product, and supervising the activities of the formulation development laboratory.
* Supervision of maintenance tasks of laboratory instruments and equipment including working instructions manuals & records, logbooks, calibrations and preventive maintenance requirements while reporting to R&D Manager any inconsistencies occurring and also any suggested necessary requirements.
* Provide training and instructive supervision to junior level subordinates.
* Other tasks as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1- Bsc. degree in pharmaceutical science.
2- Minmum 15 years of relevant  experience.
3- A significant experience in R&D formulation is a must.
