Job Title:   Projects Manager
Job Reference: 1011
Report To: Engineering Director

Job Description:

Supervises and manages construction projects on behalf of Smart Village clients (buildings constructed by others)

Duties and Responsibilities :
    1. Support the owner in the tendering process for new buildings (if such a service is required)
    2. Review Bill of Quantity (BoQ) for all new buildings to ensure they abide by SVC guidelines and specifications
    3. Review and approve implementation schedule for new buildings (developed by the Consultant) before construction work commences
    4. Attend all kickoff meetings for new buildings
    5. Conduct weekly progress meetings with the Consultant and the Contractor
    6. Track and control construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and cost allocated
    7. Conduct regular site visits to follow up on construction work
    8.Ensure that all construction works abide by SVC guidelines and specifications
    9.Review and submit for approval (by Owner) all variation orders and claims
    10.Review and approve all invoices issued by the Consultant and the Contractor(s) ensuring that they correspond to actual work completed
    11.Ensure that all raw material procured to construction site corresponds to specifications in the vendor’s list
    12.Produce periodical technical reports summarizing the past, forecasting for the future and tackling the problematic areas and recommend corrective actions.
    13.Ensure smooth and proper handover of newly constructed buildings to Facilities Operation department 

Education :

  •     B.Sc. in Civil or Architectural Engineering
  •    A certification in project management is highly preferable

Experience :
    10 to 12  years of practical experience in the construction or project management fields.

Skills and Abilities :

  •    Able to manage staff in a team-based, collaborative, and    consensus-driven environment
  •    Well-developed planning and scheduling skills
  •    Able to oversee multiple construction projects concurrently
  •    Able to manage budgets and fiscal issues
  •    Flexibility to manage unusual events as necessary
  •    Proficient use of computers and construction related computer       programmes such as AUTO CAD and Microsoft Office Project
  •     Perfect command of spoken and written English and Arabic
